In his July market report, Brad McMillan, chief investment officer for Commonwealth Financial Network LLP, says the housing market has the potential to provide the beleaguered U.S. economy with a “real chance for an outside surprise.” He notes that there has been some momentum in the market and if it is sustainable it would be significant for three reasons: Housing tends to lead recoveries, it provides jobs for the unemployed and it is a significant multiplier for the wealth effect.
